Its a charter colony. Pennsylvania has a good climate and geography, it has fertile soil which is good for farming. This colony was a safe place for Quakers to live without worrying about being killed just because they were Quakers. Since New Jersey was on the coast, it had good harbors. New Jersey was a nice place to live because it had good soil for farming and a good climate. People wanted to live here because it was a place of religious freedom. Delaware was a place where people from Sweden settled as well as Quakers. Settlers who lived closer to Maryland didn't like the religious confrontations from Philadelphia so the decided to split. There was no fighting, bombings, or war included in the splitting, they just did. |
